In
2012, the report stated that the 2010 Frank-Dodd legislation in the US, which offers financial rewards to whistleblowers from regulators, had been cited by prosecutors as leading to an increase in the quality and quantity of whistleblowing reports.
In the
2014 the survey which consulted with over 2,700 executives across 59 countries – revealed that 45% of businesses did not have whistleblower hotlines in place. The report emphasised the need to have clear escalation procedures to determine the response to whistleblower complaints.
In
2016, the report combined data from 2825 individuals across 62 countries. It was found that 55% of companies had whistleblowing hotlines in place but highlighted that there remained problems for the use of internal reporting mechanisms.
In
2018, the report consulted with 2550 executives over 55 countries with a majority of respondents stating they had implemented whistleblowing hotlines.
