Behind The Mask: Whistleblowing During The Pandemic

Behind The Mask will present acts of whistleblowing in times of coronavirus, exposing practices dangerous to public health during the pandemic. The programme focuses on the activity of whistleblowers, scientists, journalists, human rights activists, artists and researchers denouncing abuses and wrongdoing in the course of the Covid-19 crisis and beyond.

This is a free live streamed Conference that will take place from 18–20 March 2021.

WIN's, Executive Director, Anna Myers will be moderating the panel, Julian Assange: Repression, Isolation and Lockdown, which will bring together four experts in the field of technology, human rights, investigative journalism and law to address the importance of transparency, government accountability and media freedom through the case and the present conditions of Julian Assange.

Joining the disucssion will be: 

  • Suelette Dreyfus (Technology Researcher, Journalist & Writer, AU)
  • Jennifer Robinson (Human Rights Lawyer and Barrister at Doughty Street Chambers in London, AU/UK)
  • Stefania Maurizi (Investigative Journalist, IT)
  •  Felicity Ruby (PhD Candidate at Sydney University, Researcher on Surveillance and Democracy, AU).

The panel will take place online on Saturday 20 March from 11:00 -13:00 CET/ 10:00 - 12:00 GMT.
