Back to All Events
As part of the prestigious European Forum Alpbach, the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) is curating Effective Anti-Corruption Whistleblower Protection, a digital panel discussion on the 2nd September at 15.00 CET.

What are the challenges for implementing effective anti-corruption whistleblower protection at national and international levels? Does whistleblowing fit within the context of anti-corruption measures necessary to promote inclusive growth, reduce inequalities, and address the global climate crisis?  Can a human rights framework support the implementation of effective whistleblower protection frameworks in the public and private sectors?

If you are at the European Forum Albach this week do not miss listening to three highly experienced practitioners with very different and important perspectives on the role of whistleblower protection within our legal, institutional, and cultural systems.

Anna Myers, Executive Director of the Whistleblowing International Network is moderating this discussion.

Speakers are:
  • Michael J Hershman, co-founder of Transparency International and IACA
  • David Kaye, Professor of Law at UCL Irvine and former UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of expression 2014-2020
  • Corinne Vella, Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation

Recommendations stemming from the debates will be forwarded to the United Nations in the context of the preparations for the 2021 Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on corruption.

This panel will take place on 2nd September at 15.00 CET. The discussion will be held in the English language. For more information and to purchase a ticket for the European Forum Alpbach 2020, see here.
