About: Whistleblowers are often the first to expose corruption, environmental harm, and other threats to the public interest. Yet without strong protections and allies, they face significant risks.

This seminar - the first in a new series of lunchtime sessions under the SAFE 4 Whistleblowers project, will provide civil society organisations (CSOs) with practical guidance on supporting whistleblowers and understanding their responsibilities under the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive.

A short briefing paper and guide to the EU Directive will be provided to all participants.

Key topics:

  • How CSOs can act as safe havens and advocates
  • The Directive’s implications and opportunities
  • Real-world examples of CSOs supporting whistleblowers
  • Tools and partnerships to strengthen protection and impact

Speakers:

  • Zuzana Dlugošová (Network of European Integrity and Whistleblowing Authorities, Office for the Protection of Whistleblowers, Slovakia)
  • Anna Myers (Whistleblowing International Network)
  • Simona Levi (Xnet, Spain)
  • Gabriel Boudon Fattal (Climate Whistleblowers / Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa (PPLAAF)
