Protect is hosting a free round table discussion on Whistleblowing in the Food Industry, supported by the Foods Standards Agency.

When: 15 June 2021, 9:30am BST
Where: Online,email business@protect-advice.org.uk to confirm that you would like to reserve a place.

Protect is bringing together senior whistleblowing leads within the food and drinks sector, in order to share challenges and opportunities around positive speak up cultures.

"We all remember the 2016 sesame seed scandal at Pret a Manger, made public by the death of teenage customer, Natasha Ednan-Laperouse. We also recall the horse meat scandal of January 2013, which was discovered and made public by the Food Standards Agency Ireland (FSAI) leading to a surge in consumer distrust. Whilst these are not cases of whistleblowing, they could have been. A whistleblower with trust in their speak up channels could have raised a concern which led to a quick and effective internal resolution."

Agenda:

Liz Gardiner, Protect's Cheif Executive, will introduce the session.

Giles Chapman, Head of Analysis and Futures at the National Food Crime Unit within the Food Standards Agency, will discuss current key challenges within the sector.

Group Discussion - Questions will be posed to discuss in break out rooms, and attendees will re-group and the key learnings presented by each group lead.
