The Maison des Lanceurs d’Alerte (MLA) has released on 22 April 2025, a new guide for journalists and whistleblowers, Médiatiser une alerte: guide pratique pour journalistes et lanceur·ses d’alerte (Publicising an Alert: media coverage for journalists and whistleblowers).
The guide, available in both French and English, was developed with the support of UNESCO, through the Global Media Defence Fund, to support journalists and other information professionals when working with whistleblowers. It offers an accessible deciphering of the applicable legal framework, details the existing protections as well as their limits, and offers concrete advice for assessing and managing the risks associated with the media coverage of alerts of general interest.
The Maison des Lanceurs d’Alerte is a non-profit organisation created by 17 organisations and unions on 22 October 2018 to provide support to whistleblowers and improve their protection rights. Since its creation, the organisation has provided support to more than 400 whistleblowers and has developed significant expertise on the right to raise the alarm in France.
