TI Colombia Reflects on Whistleblowing in New Blog

On World Whistleblowing Day,
Transparencia por Colombia published a new blog,
"Proteger, una responsabilidad política y social" (Protecting, a political and social responsibility). The blog was written by Claire Launay Gama, Program Director – Initiatives with Civil Society at the organisation.
The blog discusses the social consequences of blowing the whistle and how protection is needed; unfortunately, Colombia still lacks a law that protects whistleblowers. The most recent bill, introduced in 2023, was approved by the House of Representatives but failed to advance in the Senate due to a lack of quorum. And that’s not all: since 2017, five legislative initiatives on whistleblower protection have been proposed, but none have succeeded.
