WIN Launches New Report on Civil Society Organisations
Date Published: 20 May 2026
Today, the Whistleblowing International Network (WIN) have launched a new report, 'Civil Society on the Frontlines of Whistleblowing: Global Perspectives and Challenges'. The report was authored by Juliette Decoster and Anna Myers of WIN, and by the collaborative authors Dr Taymi Milán and Prof. Kate Kenny of the University of Galway.
The report explores the language around whistleblowing, with these organisations providing the linguistic and cultural definitions and context around whistleblowing in their countries. The report also provides insights into how these organisations organise, collaborate and communicate within and outside of civil society, alongside what activities they do and challenges they face. The final section of the report delves into the Whistleblowing International Network’s role within all of this, where we could develop further and strengthen our connection to not only our membership but also the wider civil society and what this could look like.
Former Chief Justice of South Africa, Justice RMM Zondo states in the foreword, "This report is based on a survey that involved 50 organisations in a number of countries. It reflects information shared by the organisations that responded to the survey on issues on which they were asked to respond. These issues include various challenges that whistleblowers face in different countries and regions. When one reads the information shared by the organisations one can see that whistleblowers in different countries face very similar challenges."
Alongside the report was the launch event featuring speakers:
- Claire Launay, Program Director for Initiatives with Civil Society - Transparencia por Colombia
- Oksana Nesterenko, Executive Director - The Anti-Corruption Research and Education Centre (ACREC)
- Mialisoa Randriamampianina, Executive Director - Transparency International Initiative Madagascar
