WIN is delighted to welcome Vladimir Radomirović as our new Chair of the Board of Trustees, succeeding John Devitt – founding CEO of Transparency International Ireland.

Vladimir Radomirović is editor-in-chief of Pištaljka, an investigative journalism and whistleblower protection platform in Serbia.  Vladimir is a journalist of more than 20 years working in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 2010, prior to co-founding Pištaljka, he was deputy editor-in-chief of Politika, Serbia's most respected daily newspaper. It was here that Vladimir and his wife and fellow journalist, Dragana Matović, became whistleblowers.  They reported censorship and conflicts of interest at the paper related to the then Prime Minister of Serbia. They (and others) were fired and it was this experience that inspired them to establish Pištaljka as a safe haven for whistleblowers.

Vladimir has received several awards in Serbia for his work with Pištaljka. He was a 2015 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. He is also the president of the Journalist's Association of Serbia (UNS) and a founding member of the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) in Leipzig.

Paying tribute to our former Chair John Devitt, Executive Director of WIN, Anna Myers says:

"I want to enthusiastically note my sincere thanks to John for being WIN’s first Chair.  He has done a stellar job. He has always to talk through any challenges we faced and has offered valuable assistance whenever I needed it. John has been an enthusiastic promoter of WIN’s work for many years and we are delighted to have him stay on as a Trustee.”

Reflecting on his time as Chair John Devitt says:

"It has been a great privilege to serve as Chair of WIN as it has established itself over past 3 years. I count myself lucky to have worked with the entire team – staff and Trustees. It is due to all their hard work that WIN is able to provide much needed support to the whistleblower protection community. I’m  confident the organisation will go from strength to strength with the support of our members and the steady hand of our new Chair of Trustees, Vladimir Radomirović.”

Vladimir was elected on Thursday 14 October 2021 at WIN’s Annual General Meeting where WIN’s Membership gathers for an update on WIN’s progress, to consult on key issues affecting the community, and to elect and confirm appointments to WIN’s Board of Trustees.

Commenting on his appointment, Vladimir says:

“It has been an honour to serve as a Trustee on the WIN Board for the past three years. I would like to thank the Trustees for giving me the great privilege of becoming Chair and I look forward to being part of this new chapter in WIN’s development.”

WIN’s AGM also saw the welcome addition of Nigerian journalist and activist Chido Onumah as WIN’s newest Trustee.

Our committed Board of Trustees also includes:

Tom Devine, of the Government Accountability Project,
David Hutton of the Centre for Free Expression Whistleblowing Initiatives in Canada,
Giorgio Fraschini of Transparency International Italy
Annegret Falter of the German organisation Whistleblowers-Netzwerk.
