About: The workshop, co-organised by Transparency International and the University of Galway as part of European Commission co-funded projects, will bring together a small group of leading experts to discuss recent research findings and project results, and to develop concrete recommendations to strengthen the implementation of a gender- and intersectionality-sensitive approach in whistleblowing systems — including in internal and external reporting channels, protection and support measures, and awareness-raising efforts.

Whistleblowing is a vital tool for promoting transparency and accountability, particularly in the fight against corruption and unethical behaviour. Its effectiveness, however, depends on being accessible and inclusive for all groups, especially those facing additional barriers such as women, racialized communities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. These groups often experience obstacles like fear of retaliation, discrimination, and the absence of safe and trusted reporting channels.
