Associate Legal Director at the Human Rights Law Centre Kieran Pender, talks with Nour Haydar in the Guardian Australia’s Full Story Podcast about why Australia needs to offer better protection for those who blow the whistle on corruption, wrongdoing and unethical behaviour.

The Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC), a Member of the WIN Network, uses strategic legal action, policy solutions, and advocacy to support people and communities in eliminating inequality and injustice and building a fairer, more compassionate Australia. Our work includes supporting whistleblowers, who are crucial to ensuring accountability for government and corporate wrongdoing, including human rights abuses.

The HLRC Whistleblowing Project helps whistleblowers safely reveal wrongdoing under the protection of law, ensure the wrongdoing they disclose is dealt with promptly and fairly, protect themselves against reprisals; and, where they do suffer retaliation, vindicate their rights. The Project was established in 2023, following a history of policy and advocacy work protecting and empowering whistleblowers in Australia.
